Yards Brewery Update

20070807yards.JPGThe Inquirer has an update on the breakup of Yards Brewery. Company founder Tom Kehoe Jr. will keep the name, trademark and recipes, but former business partners Bill & Nancy Barton will keep Yards' Kensington brewery and all tanks. they will restart as the Philadelphia Brewing Co. Meanwhile, all this is slowly going through the courts and is (mostly) resolved:

"In June, McBride filed two suits against Yards and Kehoe in Philadelphia's Court of Common Pleas. In one, he sought repayment of $30,000 in personal loans. In the other, he asked to be compensated for the use of brewing tanks. The two sides said they figured out how to divide the business after an 11-hour marathon bargaining session Thursday."

  • Tom Kehoe invented Yards. Where were the Bartons when Tom had a dream and made it come true? People like the Bartons only come in when the operation is in place. Then they proceed to take a man's dream away from him. Why do the Bartons have to be so rude to Tom Kehoe in the media, as well? Guilt?

  • I am so relieved that Tom Kehoe is taking the Yards name and his beer making talent and popular brew recipes away from these business "power suits." My gosh, do these people know anything else but how to break up and tear things down for the almighty dollar? The art of beer is not in the accountant's office. It is in the heart of Tom Kehoe.. I heard they wanted Tom Kehoe to buy cheaper ingredients and he said he wouldn't do this because it would compromise the beer. All Tom Kehoe's old partners care about is making the biggest profit they can..
