Esquire’s Best New Restaurants Of 2008

The November issue of Esquire, which, we will have you know, is not out until one whole week in the future, has a feature about the 20 best new restaurants of 2008. The list is peppered with New York, Chicago, and San Francisco restaurants, which is neither unexpected, nor undeserved, and also includes two Philly restaurants. (That’s 10% of the list, which is pretty incredible/fantastic, especially considering that this list is national.)The two Philadelphia restaurants are Zahav and Distrito, and given all the praise that has been lavished on these two, we are not one bit surprised. (Especially given all the love that Jose Garces has been getting.)

The entire list is as follows:

Bar Boulud, NYC
Bar Blanc, NYC
Kampuchea, NYC
Scampo, Boston
Voice, Houston
Mansion on Turtle Creek, Dallas
Takashi, Chicago
Mercat, Chicago
L.2O, Chicago (Restaurant Of The Year, as MP:Chicago broke this morning)
Plumed Horse, Saratoga, CA
Luce, San Francisco (Chef Of The Year, which MP:SF broke this morning)
Palate, Glendale, CA
