Pre-Hispanic Menu At Xochitl

Work with enough menus and they all begun to look the same — or, at the very least, it takes a lot for a menu to stand out from the pack. The last menu to leave an indelible mark was the Flintstone Dinner at Zot which included python, lion, and yak (oh my)! Although several mouthwatering menus have rolled through since then, they inevitably eventually fade from memory, or blend together as one super menu.

A new tasting menu at Xochitl, which Phoodie put up this afternoon, is a totally different story. The menu will be available from March 17-21, and is in honor of Benito Juárez, Mexico's first indigenous president. $45 per person gets you four courses of food, while dropping an additional $20 adds cocktail pairings to each course. The menu itself is very tempting: breaded veal brains, crayfish tacos, and wild boar are all options, as well as an appetizer of grasshopper tacos (for authenticity, you know).

While on the subject of Xochitl, they have many deals worth checking out. Not only are they participating in the extended Restaurant Week (their menu for that is available here), they also have half price "Staff Meals" on Thursdays, $35 Sunday suppers, and a Happy Hour that extends to the weekend. Not too shabby, Xochitl, not shabby at all.
