Weekend Happenings

Another week over, another weekend about to start! As always, there are many things to do, eat, and drink around town. Here are some of our favorite options.

• On Sunday, there’s a Beef and Beer event at South Philly Tap Room, which starts at 3pm and ends when you are too full and/or inebriated to move. $40 gets you low roasted sirloin of beef, fresh rolls, cheeses, sauces and pickles, pulled short ribs, homemade corn tortillas, authentic salsas and traditional accompaniments, plus a whole host of local beers. Call them at (215) 271-7787 to make reservations.

Pumpkin Market is having a sweet tasting from 12pm-2pm on Saturday. New of this comes via the official Pumpkin Market twitter, where they tweet “Pies, tarts, cheese cakes, crackers, jams and more! All local and organic! Yummy!!!!!” Sweet and tasting is a combination of words that are hard to say no to.

• If you can make it out to West Chester, the Down to Earth “Our Cup Runneth Over” event on Saturday sounds like a world of awesome. There’s a free panel discussion from 3pm-5pm about agriculture in Chester County, both historical and in terms of visions for the future. Then, from 7pm-10pm comes the concert/beer tasting/food tasting portion of the day, which is $24 for the general public. Beer is from Victory Brewing Co. and one of the food donors is Talula’s Table! Reservations are recommended for both and can be made through the Chester County Historical Society.

• And of course, Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday. See you on Monday, when we will semi-belatedly offer our suggestions.
