Our girl Carolina, of MP: South Florida, has a recap of last night's Burger Bash over at Grub Street, along with a slide show that is seriously worth checking out.
The winner of the night was Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn. His Good Stuff Eatery came away with three out of four possible prizes, including the highly desirable People’s Choice Award for his sliders. Be
Mendelsohn, who was handing out “Vote for Spike” buttons all night, also won the Best Dressed Burger award and the Golden Grill prize, bestowed by the judges for the best burger that used sponsor Allen Brothers’ beef. The only category he didn’t win? The one in which he didn’t compete — a potato contest that went to Chicago’s Sola for its truffle fries.
Sadly, Philly's own Rouge did not walk away with a win, although the Rouge Burger (caramelized onions and gruyere on a challah roll) pictured above looks damn good.
