Posh restaurants bending over backwards to lure in customers might be the only positive side effect of the recession, and Lacroix has been no slouch in this department. They launched their "Appetite Stimulus" lunch and dinner a few months back, and those meals show no sign of going away.
The latest gambit to draw diners is "Dinner and a Show," starting Friday, April 17. Not real dinner theater, the $65 three-course dinner with wine pairings is along the lines of a cooking show: cooking demonstrations and a bit of background will accompany each dish, and the same goes for the wine pairings. (This should be especially thrilling for dessert, as Fred Ortega was a James Beard Award semifinalist this year.)
