We just spoke with Aaron Ultimo, who runs Ultimo Coffee, the caffeine-oriented side of Brew - the craft beer takeout shop that South Philly beer geeks beyond the reach of The Foodery have been praying would hurry up and open - to find out if today is really the day the suds would start flowing, as was hinted at by kitchenplay via Foobooz.
Turns out, not so much. "We've hit snags," says Ultimo, who is partnered with John Longacre of South Philadelphia Tap Room in the venture. "I wouldn't even begin to say when we'll actually open. Hopefully, sometime this summer." So what sort of snags? PLCB-related snags? "Permitting, protests, that sort of thing." Ah, PLCB-related snags - second only to L&I-related snags on local entrepreneur's list of most loathsome things about opening a restaurant the City of Philadelphia.
