While the weather may not be ideal, there are plenty of food-related activities going on in Philadelphia this weekend to keep you busy. Of course, Restaurant Week begins on Sunday, but pace yourself — it last two weeks. In Chester County, there is the famous Kennett Square Mushroom Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Take a tour of West Philadelphia’s murals with Jose Garces, followed by lunch at Distrito. Don’t forget about the A Full Plate Rib Cook-Off in Northern Liberties on Saturday. Around the corner at Johnny Brenda’s is the day-long Pils Picnic complete with fried chicken. Meanwhile, Liz Thorpe, Vice President of Murray’s Cheese in New York, will be at Tria in Washington Square West tonight for a special cheese and beer event (free admission). And on Sunday, the Mexican Independence Day Celebration at Penn’s Landing will have lots of authentic goodies to taste.
And with that, we’re off. Kirsten will be back on Monday. It’s been real.
