Tonight: Fried Chicken and Country Tunes at Pub & Kitchen

Here is something unexpected: English-y tavern Pub & Kitchen is going country for the night. Starting at 9 p.m., the Rittenhouse spot will kick off its first “Country Delight” party, which involves playing country music of the Garth Brooks, Toby Keith and Reba McIntire variety, $3 canned beer, $6 pints of Sixpoint Righteous Rye ale and a $14 fried chicken dinner special. We also hear there will be bales of hay in the house and cowboy gear is encouraged. Why are they doing this? No special reason, other than owner Ed Hackett thought it would be fun, but maybe it’s somehow related to this new Pub & Kitchen blog they’ve started up. We’re on the fence - but open-minded! - about the country tunes, but cowboy gear and fried chicken sounds like a good time to us.
