Food Fights

Eulogy Owner Pens Curious Conspiracy Theory Email

If you’re a fan of internet food fights (see: the Tommy Up Campaign of Twerror), we’d like to point you in the direction of one such kerfuffle over at Foobooz. Mike Naessans, the owner of Old City beer bar Eulogy, sent a puzzling email to Foobooz’s editor/publisher Arthur Etchells, accusing him of deliberately leaving Eulogy off of Foobooz’s list of Top 50 Bars. So, Etchells published the email for readers to see for themselves.

In it, Naessans says that he doesn’t care about Foobooz’s list anyway - although he takes the time to offer up an odd conspiracy theory about why Eulogy was left off - but points to his inclusion in OpenTable’s Diner’s Choice Top 50 Vibrant Bar Scene Restaurants as a far greater achievement. However one feels about the validity of either of these lists, it’s clear that the commenters have very strong feelings about their experiences at Eulogy. Receiving a strongly worded email from Mike Naessans is sort of a rite-of-passage for Philly food writers, so we welcome Etchells to the club.
