It’s Always Sunny in Old City

Phoodie is reporting that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator, star and Philly native Rob McElhenney (or his company) has purchased Old City bar Skinner’s Dry Goods. The Illadelph points out that McElhenney mentioned he was buying a Philly bar with his high school pals in Temple News a while back. This is major news for many reasons: first of all, it’s not in South Philly, like the fictional Paddy’s Pub on the show, which is disappointing, but makes sense from a business standpoint - Old City gets the tourist traffic. Speaking of tourists, will this be a tourist bar, like Cheers in Boston, or will locals actually go there? We’re just hoping Danny De Vito shows up on occasion and hunkers down at the bar with a bottle of limoncello and an evil gleam in his eye.
