There’s More to Philly Than Cheesesteaks, Says Everyone

As residents of this fine food town, we are very aware that there’s more to the Philly dining scene than cheesesteaks. We are also very aware that everyone who writes about the Philly dining scene uses the phrase “there’s more to Philly than cheesesteaks.” EVERYONE. Hey, we’ve done it ourselves, but you know what? It’s time to retire it when USA Today and Tasting Table and Philly mag all use it on the same day (although Philly mag gets a pass because they were using to it say something nice about us). That’s our New Year’s Resolution - no more “more to Philly than cheesesteaks.” Moving on! Tasting Table loves our snappy new and old cocktail bars…

The daily e-newsletter has discovered a “cocktail corridor” and it includes APO, The Franklin, Southwark and Village Whiskey. Bonus points for a Yuengling shoutout.

As for USA Today, they put together a very respectable list of cost-conscious dining options: Sabrina’s, Honey’s, Nam Phuong, Osteria and Chifa. Although they get points deducted for spelling cheesesteak as two words.
