While you can’t swing a cat these days without hitting a new bakery specializing in cupcakes, it seems that Queen Village stalwart The Pink Rose Pastry Shop has gone to the great oven in the sky. The Inky’s Michael Klein reports that the owner, who purchased the Pink Rose four years ago, blames the economy, but Klein notes that “Pink Rose’s glory days, alas, were easily a decade (and at least two owners) ago.” With the closing of Roselena’s in 2008, are there any frilly, girly, old-school pastry houses left in Philly? We’re going to wrap ourselves up in a paper doily and try and figure it out.
