Here’s something that may help out restaurants that didn’t do so well during the Snowpocalypse: free metered parking in Center City through Tuesday! So that means free parking during Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day. If you were holding back on making reservations, visit our Valentine’s Day user’s guide for restaurant suggestions. Read on for parking details.

Perhaps using some of the residuals earned from their hit reality show, Parking Wars, the dreaded Philadelphia Parking Authority is offering free metered parking from right this second through Tuesday, as part of a “Spread the Love” campaign initiated by Mayor Nutter Butter to help businesses that have been brutalized by the blizzard.

There will also be discounted parking at several PPA-run Center City garages - you can see which ones here - the first four hours of parking will be free, followed by a $3 per hour rate.

If your car is still snowed in, Septa is also offering special discounted fares on regional rail lines.

If you are parking outside of Center City, longtime parking tradition demands that you respect the irrefutable law of the lawn chair.
