The Bellagio on the Delaware?

The Inky confirms a long-standing rumor today… Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn has signed a letter of intent to manage the Foxwoods Casino project in South Philadelphia. Wynn’s representatives met with Mayor Nutter and said their intention, pending approval from the Gaming Control Board, was to run the property as a “high-end casino” that will have Wynn’s name on it. Details from Wynn himself were scant, but the former Penn student did make a statement.

Penn kids. How do they always manage to wedge in a reference to Penn within the first 30 seconds of talking to them?

“I am thrilled to be returning to the East Coast,” Wynn said in the statement, “in particular to the city in which I was privileged to have gained my college education.”

Wynn, 67, graduated in 1963 from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts degree in English. He also served as a Penn trustee for 10 years.

Once a Penn kid, always a Penn kid.
