The Oyster House is cracking open its first Shucking Contest on Saturday, March 27 at 2 p.m.. Both professional and amateur shuckers are invited to compete in separate timed rounds that will be judged for speed and accuracy by our favorite Inquirer food writer Rick Nichols and yours truly.

The bivalve-curious can pay $5 to enter the restaurant to watch the shuckers do their stuff; guests will be served all of the shucked oysters, plus can take advantage of a pay-as-you-go firkin of Dock Street’s West of Center Pale Ale. The winner of the pro round gets a $200 cash prize, the winner of the amateurs wins a $100 gift certificate to Oyster House.
