Listen up, competitive eaters: This weekend is your chance to go for the gold, or at least the golden mustard. Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs will host its New Jersey Regional Qualifying Contest at Trump Plaza’s Beach Bar in Atlantic City on Saturday at 2 p.m. Contestants will compete for a spot in Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest at the chain’s original Coney Island location. This is no ordinary Memorial Day weekend weenie roast. The winner of last year’s New Jersey qualifier consumed 30 hot dogs in under ten minutes. But that’s nothing compared to champion Joey Chestnut (who boasts three Wing Bowl wins, as well) who swallowed 68 wieners last summer. [AC Weekly]
