One thing that did not worry Brown Betty Dessert Boutique co-owner Norrinda Brown this past weekend while she was getting married in California was the upcoming opening of Brown Betty Petite, her cupcake kingdom’s third location. It opens Monday, June 7, less than week after her wedding. “Juggling the wedding with the bakery has not been too much of challenge,” Brown told Grub Street. “I’m also a fulltime attorney, so I’m used to doing several things at once.”

The new location, the second Brown Betty to take on the “Petite” designation, will open on the ground floor of Liberty Place, near the 17th Street entrance. It will blend some of the vintage looks of the Northern Liberties Brown Betty flagship with the more modern motifs of its sister store near Rittenhouse Square. It will offer cupcakes, 6-inch layer cakes and the popular nudies - all natural sweets made with fresh fruit and no added sugar. Customers will also be able to place and pick up orders at the new locale.

While opening a third store has been part of Brown’s plan for some time, opening it now was not. “The opportunity presented itself, and we didn’t want to miss out,” she said. “So we all rallied together - my family, the bakery team and our other partners - to get it done. And that’s what Brown Betty is really about.”
