PLCB Shenanigans

Critics Agree: PLCB Wine Kiosks Are the Worst Idea Ever

Just days after the notoriously backward and arguably moronic Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board rolled out its high tech wine kiosks in a pilot program, what seems like the entire universe has chimed in on the matter and the consensus is, the kiosks are likely the stupidest things ever imagined, according to a lengthy roundup from Self Service World. In the piece the blog Wine Culture Project is quoted stating that PLCB’s kiosks are the “worst wine idea of the year.” Alder Yarrow of Vinography adds that the kiosks are “a perfect way to reduce wine sales,” and goes on to mock the system with a reference to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. “You want to buy wine in grocery stores, you’re going to have to convince a passive aggressive computer to open the pod bay doors, first,” Yarrow said. With just two of the systems up and running now, imagine how popular they will be after they’ve been implemented statewide. [Self Service World]
