The suit filed against PLCB over its wine boutique inside Garces Trading Co. is starting to feel like a Law & Order rerun. All that’s missing is a dead body and one of Jerry Orbach’s cheesy one-liners. In the latest turn of events, the PLCB has requested that the suit, which accuses the state run liquor control board of giving the Jose Garces owned BYOB an unfair advantage by allowing a wine store to operate inside of it, be dismissed, Philadelphia Brownstoner reports. The plaintiffs, a group of restaurant owners, community members and a state representative, have filed a response, and both parties are awaiting a decision. Not matter the outcome, if last week’s news of Garces Trading Co. applying for liquor license is any indicator, it seems like Garces, who has never been a target of the suit, is already making plans for PLCB vacating the premises.
