The groundswell of chefs and restaurateurs in and around the South Street neighborhood who operate outside of the Center City District’s boundaries for Restaurant Week have formed a loose-knit alliance that’s rising up with its own shadow restaurant week, Foobooz reports. Organized by Adsum co-owner Kar Vivekananthan, the group, which has grown to include more than 10 restaurants — Hoof & Fin, Izumi and James among them — is calling its prix fixe deals South of South Restaurant and Food Week. And like the restaurants that are part of the Center City promotion, South of South part will offer guests specially priced menus from now until Friday, September 17, and again from Sunday, September 19 to Friday, September 24.
