Chestnut Hill’s Night Kitchen Bakery, the neighborhood bakery and café from the husband and wife team of Amy Edelman and John Millard, recently wrapped up its major expansion project, which has essentially doubled the size of the operation. Working with designer Angela Heithecker from Hob Nob Design and the Stock Group, which specializes in sustainable construction, the bakery has spread out into the adjacent property. The newly expanded space now boasts a larger café area and a huge cake decorating space with large windows facing Germantown Avenue. Passersby can now catch a glimpse of Night Kitchen’s staff preparing and decorating their specialty cakes and baked goods. Along with growing the physical footprint, Night Kitchen has also built up its café menu’s offerings. Highlights include bacon, cheddar and egg strata, duck salad with goat cheese toast and caramelized onions served over mixed greens and housemade pizza.
