If you find yourself looking for a way to escape the maddening crowds of bargain-seeking shoppers on Black Friday, Monica Glass, pastry chef at 10 Arts, has just the thing. She’s bringing back hot chocolate service, which proved to be quite popular last holiday season. “Last year we had two kinds: milk chocolate and dark chocolate,” Glass told Grub Street. “The milk chocolate was much more popular.” This year Glass combined the milk and dark chocolate varieties and caramelized sugar to create a salted caramel hot chocolate. She’s also come up with a variety of toppings that include crushed housemade “Oreos,” several different kinds of brittle, crushed peppermint, chocolate shavings, salted caramel whipped cream and chocolate whipped cream. Toppings now include regularly changing flavors of marshmallows, whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Hot chocolate service will be available daily, and on Saturdays will coincide with Glass’s Sucre: Dessert Bar. “You can have it as a sepreate thing or with Sucre, if you want to double up on your sugar,” Glass added. “We’re also putting together a list of different shots and liqueurs, like tequila and orange, that you can add for different flavors.”

Just around the corner the Oyster House is also offering a respite for exhausted shoppers and those looking to avoid them with “Bags and Bubbles,” an oyster and champagne special kicking off Saturday. Guests can enjoy a half-dozen oysters and a glass of Casa Del Mar Cava for $15. Bags and Bubbles is available every Saturday through the end of December from 11:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
