Stephen Starr is branching out in New York again, and this time he has his sites set on the Upper West Side. Following in the footsteps of his Granite Hill, which opened recently at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, his latest project, also an institutional effort, is an 80-seat Italian restaurant inside the New York Historical Society, the Diner’s Journal reports. The space features an original Keith Haring ceiling mural and Starr says the menu will offer cicchetti, which is a Venetian approach to small plates. The expected opening is “next year,” and a chef has not been named. With Il Pittore still far from opening in Philadelphia, Grub Street suspects Starr’s former culinary director Chris Painter could be on board. [Diner’s Journal]
