Joe Scarpone, the chef behind Manayunk’s long delayed paninoteca Agiato, which just opened last week, already plans to leave the project, Rick Nichols reports. “Discomfort with the financing” of Agiato and the neighboring businesses Agiato Bread Company and Main Street Market, was the only reason given for Scarpone’s abrupt departure.

• The Corner, the restaurant from former Buddakan chef Scott Swiderski and Raw owner Tony Rim that’s going into what used to be APO, has snagged John “Chainsaw” Taus as sous chef, the Insider reports. Taus spent the summer working on the line at Diving Horse in Avalon and later its Philly-based sister restaurant Pub & Kitchen after leaving Snackbar back in April.

• Sylva Senat has been named chef of Tiffin’s Munish Narula’s still unnamed restaurant at 777 South Broad, according to the Insider. Senat’s resume includes stint with Stephen Starr, Marcus Samuelsson and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
