Tapping into the steady flow of hungry and thirsty throngs that pack the restaurants and bars along Passyunk Avenue was one of the first orders of business Joe Cicala wanted get to after being appointed chef at Le Virtu. He believes the new bar menu that he just introduced, which is comprised of stuzzichini — tasty little Italian bar snacks — just might be the thing. “It’s kind of like Italian tapas but a little smaller,” Cicala told Grub Street. “It’s not just, like, peanuts and popcorn, it’s a little more composed and a little more elaborate.” The collection of snacks includes aracini with pork ragu, head-on prawns sautéed in wine, garlic and herbs and house cured salumi.
