You know that old yarn about Chinese restaurants being the only places to eat out on Christmas? Well, like many stereotypes, there’s some truth to it. This year, Buddakan is doing its best to keep that tradition alive, not necessarily with Chinese food per se, but through serving its pan-Asian cuisine on Christmas. The Old City restaurant will be open normal hours and serve its full menu.

Lacroix, which is also open on Christmas, will be serving a brunch menu form 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The $79 spread includes holiday-inspired specialties like house-brined carved ham, goose breast with a dried cherry jus, Gingerbread Ice cream with candied orange and an Egg Nog Trifle. Items form its traditional brunch menu will also be available.

XIX at Hyatt at The Bellevue will start serving breakfast on Christmas at 6:30 a.m. At 11 a.m. the kitchen will switch over and offer a limited menu — think soups, salads and sandwiches — through 8 p.m.

• South Philly’s Devil’s Den is opening at 7 p.m. on Christmas and serving food and drink through the evening. On Cheirstmas Eve, the bar and restaurant will tap two kegs of Troegs Mad Elf — one from 2009 and another form 2010 — so you can conduct your own vertical tasting.

• For those wishing to stay at home but not cook, Percy Street Barbecue is running a smokin’ holiday special with its Lone Star Christmas. The special mneu, which is available for take-out only, features smoked turkey or roast beef sold a la carte for $65. For $225, you can get the turkey or roast beef and enough side dishes and dessert to feed eight. Side dishes include macaroni and cheese, green bean casserole, glazed carrots and braised cabbage. Dessert choices are pecan or Key Lime pies. Orders must be placed by December 17.

• And if you’re in search of a proper drink on Christmas Eve, Ranstead Room, Stephen Starr’s cozy cocktail nook behind El Rey will be open and fixing cocktails.
