Fork & Barrel owners Matt Scheller, Matt and Colleen Swartz aren’t wasting any time cashing in on rave reviews and the overwhelmingly positive response they’ve received for the East Falls haunt they opened back in October. They’ve just signed a lease on a 5,700 square foot space on Walnut Street, which used to house Joe Pesce, according to Citybizlist. In his review of Fork & Barrel last weekend, Inquirer critic Craig LaBan hinted that the crew, which also recently took over Franco’s Trattoria and owns Tap & Table in Emmaus, and the Bookstore Speakeasy, in Bethlehem, were seeking out properties in Center City for another venture. The new restaurant will not be a gastropub, per se, but craft beer and good food will factor into the concept, which should open this coming spring, according to Meal Ticket.
