If you thought yesterday’s “thundersnow” storm wrought havoc for you and your commute, wait til you hear what happened to Mario Batali. Following a special, private dinner for 14 (with Iron Chef Jose Garces among them) at Osteria’s kitchen table last night — Batali auctioned the dinner off at the Vetri Foundation’s Great Chef’s Event last summer, bringing in $20,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand — the celeb chef headed over to 30th Street Station to catch a train back to New York. At midnight, he tweeted, “In the snowbound Philly train station waiting on uncle Amtrak!! Woohoo.” “I was getting ready to go get him so he could sleep on my sofa,” Marc Vetri told Grub Street this morning. “But [the train] made it at 12:30 a.m. He made it home at 3:45.” Oof Madon! At least he wasn’t stuck on a stranded SEPTA bus all night.
