The hapless state-run liquor authority just can’t seem to get a break. As the deficit-obsessed in Harrisburg lick their chops in anticipation of gutting the booze-bloated beast, the agency is still trying to recover from its dismal attempt at entering the modern age with its widely panned wine dispensing kiosks. Following a brief pilot program, the LCB pulled the plug on the machines in late December. It began rebooting the program earlier this month. And just as its about to show all the naysayers out there its wine dispensing machines, which have cost the state millions already, will work for real this time, Wegmans just upstaged the LCB with its own wine-dispensing system that its testing at its Allentown store. Granted it only pours wine by the glass, but it works. [Morning Call]
