Eatocracy Toques Up with Matt Levin

We’ve heard of chefs being in the weeds before, but the expression took a whole new meaning yesterday when Eatocracy’s 5@5 caught up Matt Levin. After disavowing “the usage of the wacky tobacky,” the CNN blog let the Adsum chef-owner riff on his menu’s high five stoner foods. Despite his reputation as the Jeff Spicoli of chefs — a befitting description for a guy who always wears checkered Vans — Levin has gone on the record several times saying he rarely drinks, and in this latest piece denies being a “friend of Herb.” Still when the chef says “Let’s go smoke a bowl and get fat,” while talking about his sliders sandwiched between peanut butter Kandy Kakes and the melted cheese that oozes from each bite of his deep-fried mac and cheese, it makes you wonder if he’s Bogarting the truth a little.
