Dogfish Head Runs Away From Four States

Dogfish Head is brewing up a real bummer for some devotees of its beers: The company is cutting off four of the 23 states it currently ships product to, Delaware’s News Journal reports. The good news is, the company is still operating in the black — the pullback is in response to surging sales and the brewery’s inability to keep up. Since the launch of Discovery’s Brew Masters, a reality show about Dogfish Head and its founder Sam Calagione, demand for the off-centered ales has been off the charts, making many of its products scarce near its home in Delaware and surrounding states. Rather than boost its already-maxed-out production and threaten the integrity of the beers, Calagione has decided to pull out of newer markets and concentrate on keeping his company’s core drinkers well supplied. So, it seems that in the world of craft beer, success has its costs. [News Journal]
