Gift of Life’s Family House, a decades-in-the-making facility that provides temporary lodging and support for organ and tissue transplant patients and their families, is reaching out to Philly’s restaurant community to help feed the 50 to 60 people it houses each day. And so far they’ve got some heavyweights on board. Stephen Starr, Marc Vetri and TV personality/producer Marc Summers are the first sign on to family House’s Home Cook Heroes volunteer program, which pools talent and resources from restaurants and their staffs to prepare, serve and clean up after daily dinners at the house. It’s no simple task, and that’s why gift of life is eager to get more restaurants to volunteer groups of 5 to 10 people, and/or donate meals with its Home Cook Heroes kits.
