Last we checked in with Jolly Weldon, then owner of Chestnut Street’s Jolly’s Dueling Piano Bar, things were not so jolly. But now things appear to be looking up for the piano bar magnate. He closed his dueling piano spot last week, and tomorrow will open his latest venture, Jolly’s Piano Bar Restaurant at 1420 Locust St. in the Academy House, which has seen everything from Marabella’s, The Smoked Joint and most recently Sakeya come and go over the decades. Like its predecessor, the new Jolly’s will feature the dueling pianos, plus other entertainment, but in a larger, 125-seat supper club setting. It will also offer sandwiches, burgers, grilled pizzas and entrees daily for lunch and dinner, plus a special Sunday brunch menu prepared by Chef Stepehn Quici.
