Mango Moon, the Bangkok street fare-inspired spot from Chabaa Thai chef-owner Moon Krapugthong, is closing on April 9. Don’t worry; it’s not all bad news. Krapugthong is closing Mango Moon to concentrate on getting Yanako, an all new Japanese-inspired venture that she’s been working on since the fall, together. Ige San, who served as chef in residence at Mango Moon late last year, has been appointed Yanako’s Chef de Cuisine. Along with Moon, San will help staff the new restaurant and its sushi bar. Moon says her mission is to develop a menu that puts forth lighter versions of authentic, exotic and homespun Asian dishes. An opening date has not been announced yet. In the meantime, Moon is cutting back Mango Moon’s hours to 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, and will serve a limited menu of her favorite dishes.
