A couple weeks ago we told you that Marc Vetri was one of the first chefs to get on board Gift of Life’s Home Cook Heroes program at its recently launched Family House. Now the renowned chef is urging other chefs and restaurateurs to do the same. As Philly Chit Chat reports, when Vetri spoke at the Home Cook Heroes launch party Monday, he said that if chefs and their staffs could donate time and resources for one or two days a week, together they could easily book the schedule with different restaurants and groups to ensure that families staying at the house could enjoy wholesome, home-cooked meals. Managers from Starr Restaurant Organization, and Supper’s Mitch and Jennifer Prensky were also present at the event to pledge their support.

Meanwhile Jose Garces this week is getting behind St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children’s Dine In, Help Out program. The Iron Chef is encouraging fans to take one night to dine in at home (rather than dining out) with family and friends and donate the money they would have spent at restaurant to help provide nutritious food to underprivileged families.
