Brown Betty, arguably the bakery that’s responsible for sparking the cupcake’s ascension here in Philly, is shutting down its flagship location at Liberties Walk on Sunday. But there’s no reason to freak out about it. It’s actually the first in a series of steps the bakery is taking to relocate to its new digs down the street a ways at 722 N. 2nd Street. In the meantime, Brown Betty’s two satellite locations at Liberty Place and near Rittenhouse Square, will remain open. The new spot, which will triple the size of the bakery, is scheduled to open on May 21. And in the fall it will debut a communal seating area, where guest will be able to enjoy fresh baked pastries.
