When Zagat reported that Supper’s Mitch Prensky and Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co.’s Mike Welsh were working on a restaurant together, we immediately thought that it must be the mysterious “more food oriented” offshoot of the Franklin we mentioned some months ago. And it seemed like a natural progression for the two, since Prensky developed food for the Franklin and in return received a rockin’ cocktail list. But the project may not so definite yet. Both parties have confirmed that they are exploring the possibility of future project together, but maintain nothing has been formalized. “At this point, I can’t confirm or deny those rumors,” Prensky told Grub Street. “But if were to happen, that would be very cool.”

A bright orange Public Notice of Application Alcoholic Beverages placard was stuck on the former salon that’s above the Franklin, a sure harbinger of a forthcoming business with a liquor license. And Franklin frontman Mike Welsh admits he’s exploring the possibility of expanding his affiliation with Supper and Prensky, and developing a restaurant component for the Franklin in that vacant storefront above it. But would not confirm if the two nebulous projects were in fact connected. “Make no bones about it, we are very happy with our relationship with Supper right now,” Welsh said. “We definitely anticipate doing something with them that will highlight both our expertise. It’s just a matter of when and where that project is going to happen.”
