It’s Game Over For Wine Kiosks at Wegmans

Ouch! This will surely sting for a while. Wegmans Food Markets, the new darling of the supermarket set, announced yesterday that it was pulling the plug on the 10 PLCB wine kiosks currently set up in some of its Pennsylvania stores. The Inquirer reports that the company is citing the kiosks’ limited selection of wines, the lack of knowledgeable staff to provide adequate customer service and sheer lack of convenience for its decision to declare the wine vending machine’s game over. And you can bet that its only a matter of time before that budget hawks in Harrisburg leverage Wegmans’ move in their fight to privatize the state’s liquor stores. [Inquirer]
