Today two of the Garden State’s top brewers are teaming up to create what they say will be “New Jersey’s Finest Ale.” Casey Hughes, Flying Fish’s brewer and the brains behind the brewery’s ongoing Exit Series of limited edition beers, and longtime chum Chris LaPierre, Iron Hill’s award-winning brewer, mashed in this morning at Iron Hill’s brewhouse in Maple Shade to begin making Iron Fish. It’s a brew the two are describing as a Belgian Black IPA, which will feature a roasted malt backbone, a strong presence of American hops and a telltale spiciness derived from Belgian yeast. The brew will be available exclusively on draught and in growlers at Maple Shade’s Iron Hill after August 27.
