Too early for Oktoberfest? Hardly. We know this because Yuengling, still America’s oldest continuously run brewery, is getting ready to roll out with its first-ever Oktoberfest style lager. Hard to believe it’s the first of its kind from the 182-year-old company. In a prepared statement the new beer is being described as a traditional Märzen style, with a slightly darker color and more pronounced roasted malt character than Yuengling’s flagship Lager. How does it taste? We’re not sure. But based on the brewery’s deep, like really deep, German roots, we’re guessing its going to be a winner. But with similar suds on beer store shelves from craft brewers like Sly Fox, Flying Fish and Stoudts, we’re curious how the new brew will stand up against the competition.
