Remember a few weeks back when we told you that the days were numbered for the Beer Garden at the heart of Reading Terminal Market? Well, it’s now looking like the watering hole is in its final hours. According to the market’s general manager, Paul Steinke, the Beer Garden will close on Monday, August 29, bringing its 25 year run to a close. Work on it’s successor, Molly Malloy’s, a gastropub-y, sports-y sort of bar and restaurant from longtime RTM produce vendors Jim and Vince Iovine will begin almost immediately after. “The [Iovine brothers] had hoped to be underway sooner, but it took a little longer to line everything up,” Steinke told Grub Street. “They’re now ready go, and we’re all excited about the coming of Molly Malloy’s.” He added that the Iovines are aiming to open on October 11, which is the birthday of their mother, the bar’s namesake.
