There was no waiting for Robert De Niro up on North Broad last night. Despite its opening being pushed back until Friday, Stephen Starr’s Route 6 opened its doors for the Hollywood legend to come in and have dinner, according to PhillyChitChat’s HughE Dillon. De Niro spent much of the day shooting Silver Linings Playbook, before getting a sneak-preview of what Starr’s seafooder has in store for the rest of us mere mortals. Meanwhile, co-star and newly anointed “sexiest man alive” Bradley Cooper was spotted feeding and clothing Philly’s homeless. He reportedly gave one homeless man the coat off his back, which was a gift from De Niro.
Across town Gordon Ramsay was spotted two nights in a row at Jose Garces’ Mexican joint Distrito. We suppose he’s scouting the place to cop some ideas for his assault on revamping of University City’s Zocalo, which will be the subject of a future episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Between causing traffic and parking headaches in South Philly, and stuffing his face with Iron Chef-caliber tacos, Gordo also took time to check out NoLibs watering hole The Blind Pig. Owners Debra Ciasullo and David Hentz Facebooked that he was actually a pretty nice guy. Go figure.
