The Walnut Street Supper Club opens tonight after months of extensive renovations there transformed the Center City stalwart Portofino into a retro styled bar and restaurant with the promise of nightly live entertainment. Ralph Berarducci, who ran Portofino for 38 years, brought in partner James McManaman earlier this year after the restaurant’s roof collapsed, and major renovations were needed to rescue it. Completely re-imagined as a post-war era haunt, the club serves classic Italian cuisine with a side of spirited performances from the house’s singing service staff.
