Philly’s eye on just about everything, HughE Dillon, is reporting over at Philly Chit Chat, that the long anticipated debut of Chinatown’s Hop Sing Laundromat is coming this week. Perhaps before New Year’s Eve. While we’re aware that Lee, the moderately mysterious magnate behind the project has been doling out passes to a nebulous preview that his Twitter followers had to nominate five charitable organizations to be considered in the running for, he’s remained pretty tight-lipped about a formal opening to the public. Lee told Grub this morning that an opening before the end of the year is unlikely, because he is still putting finishing touches on the place. “We need to be as good as we possibly can be before we accept any money from customers,” Lee, a self-avowed perfectionist, said. Until everything is absolutely perfect, he said he won’t open. Still, considering the amount of smoke this guy’s been blowing up everyone’s butts this year, we wouldn’t be surprised if Hop Sing opened its doors tonight. [Philly Chit Chat; Twitter]
