We’ve known for some time that former Adsum chef Matt Levin has been keeping himself busy developing a new concept for Guest Count honchos, Barry Gutin and Larry Cohen (of Cuba Libre fame) in the former home of Marathon Grill at 10th and Walnut. Just exactly what’s in the works is the mystery. Or was. Until now. Word came yesterday that the space is being transformed into Square Peg, which the Insider reports will have a sort of all-American diner vibe and is shooting for an opening this spring. Bar Ferdinand’s Owen Kamihira, who put the olives in at the Continental and the giant golden Buddha at Buddakan, is signed on as designer. And it sounds like Levin’s gastro-geekery will be in full effect. Preliminary menu deets include pierogies, Korean fried chicken and fried chicken tacos! Twist one up, Philly. Sounds like our stoner food moment hasn’t passed us just yet. [Insider]
