There seems to be no sign of new restaurant openings slowing down this winter. Today brings word of two on the immediate horizon, one of which, coincidentally is going into the former home of Horizons just off South Street. That one’s Nomad Pizza, the Hopewell, NJ-based operation that’s sporadically been stringing along the city’s slice-obsessed with fresh-baked pies from its mobile wood-fired pizza oven retrofitted onto its restored 1949 REO Speedwagon. Owners Stalin Bedon and Tom Grim hope to have their new joint ready to start slinging pizzas by the end of next week.

Meanwhile across town, London Grill owners Terry Berch and Michael McNally are signal that they’re readying their Francophile offshoot Paris Wine Bar for a February 9 opening. The 50-seat Parisian bar, which is directly next door to London on Fairmount Ave., will feature a rotating selection of wines produced in Pennsylvania on a draught wine system, and a menu with French cafe staples like, Croque Madame with duck confit, brie, and a fried duck egg; steamed mussels, with leeks, saffron and mustard served with grilled bread; and mustard-crusted calf’s Liver, with smoked bacon-onion marmalade.
