Last year saw the resurrection of long-dormant and locally birthed brand Gino’s Burgers and Chicken. And it’s looking like this year will bring another long-gone chain restaurant back form the grave. Seafood Shanty, the chain of seafood spots that originated in Bucks County, and ultimately ran aground in the early 90s due to bankruptcy, will sail once again in February with a lone location in the Reading suburb Wyomissing. According to a prepared statement, owner Eddie Riegel and his chef James Lesniak will recreate some of the Shanty’s classic dishes and offer some new ones too, serving everything from clam chowder and bouillabaisse to steamer pots, mussels and buckets of crab legs. Riegel expects to be open by February 7, inside what used to be a Mason’s Chophouse in the Broadcasting Square Shopping Center. Plans are already being hatched to open additional locations in the Philly area in the near future.
