Whether you love it, hate it or are simply indifferent, the first edition of Center City District’s Restaurant Week for 2012 kicks off Sunday. And with it comes two weeks of $35 prix fixe, three or more course dinners and $20 lunches. And sure enough just as there are dozens of restaurants participating, there are many lining up to offer alternatives to the twice-annual dining frenzy. New to this year’s counter programming is Stephen Starr’s Route 6. From January 22 to 27, and then again from the 29 through February 3, the seafood joint is offering its own Lobster Week deal. For $35, guests can enjoy clam chowder or a salad, a one-and-a-quarter pound lobster with a twice baked potato, creamed corn and drawn butter, and a dessert.

• Of course Starr’s Headhouse pizza parlor, Pizzeria Stella is bringing back its popular Pizza Week deal. That offers a choice of salad or antipasti, any pizza and a choice of gelato for $25. It too runs from January 22 to 27 and January 29 through February 3.

• Though he’s not necessarily offering any deals, Top Chef champ Kevin Sbraga is tweeting that for $45 (that’ just $10 more than R.R. promotions) he’s offering his nightly pix fixe menu.

• Beginning Monday, McCrossen’s Tavern will start seving its answer to Restaurant Week, a multi-course prix fixe option for $30, and an optional wine pairing for $45.
