Today is Saint Joseph’s Day, which means that many Italian bakeries will have fresh, powdered sugar-topped zeppoles available. Also known as Saint Joseph’s Cakes, the sweet, fritter-like, cream-filled puffs typically are only available in the days between Saint Patrick’s Day and the seldom-seen treat’s namesake’s feast day, and then gone for another year.
